Dorothea House

A quiet guesthouse in Gozo

Welcome!

Set back from the hustle and bustle of the streets, you’re entering through a small red door & you pass along a corridor, not sure what to expect. You open the second door and you are surrounded by a court yard, quietness and quite possibly cats.

This is Dorothea House – our beautiful converted farmhouse, located in the village of Fontana in Gozo, overlooking the ‘Wied Siekel’ valley. We are registered with Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) & our license no. is HF/G/0210.

Built during different periods, ranging from the 17th century Mill Room, 19th century kitchen, courtyard and guest room to the 20th century private bedroom. It’s made of local limestone, our energy is solar powered, the yard is slowly transforming into an edible landscape one.

We have one room available for your holiday, or short-term let of any sorts. “The Guitar Maker’s Room” is a spacious double room with a small private shower room / WC and access to a terrace.

We’re a vegetarian household (except the four legged ones). We use only biodegradable, cruelty free products, consider a healthy environment the penultimate goal and strive for this to be the case in the Dorothea House micro cosmos.

We see our home as a place to retreat and recharge; very much in the spirit of Nicholas Monsarrat’s quote:

“Gozo remained an utterly private place, an island in petto – within the breast – and lucky the man who could find the key, turn the lock, and vanish inside.”

– Nicholas Monsarrat
